SPN 100 FMI 4
Critical (Shutdown Timer Active)
System Overview: Engine Lubrication & Sump
Oil pressure sensor signal circuit voltage dropped below 0.25 Volts DC, indicating an open circuit or dead short to ground.
Driver Symptoms
- Red STOP ENGINE lamp illuminated with 30-second emergency shutdown countdown
- Oil pressure gauge reads 0 PSI on instrument cluster
- Audible cab warning buzzer
Probable Causes
- Signal wire chafed against cylinder block or oil pan rail
- Corroded 3-pin sensor connector terminal (water/oil ingress)
- Failed oil pressure transducer diaphragm
Diagnostic Steps
- CAUTION: Manually verify true mechanical oil pressure using a calibrated wet master gauge at the main oil rifle plug before moving vehicle (minimum 15 PSI hot idle / 45 PSI governed speed)
- Disconnect sensor and check 5.0V reference voltage from ECM Pin 15 to Pin 30 (Ground)
- Check continuity of signal wire from sensor Pin B to ECM harness connector
Sensor Wiring Pinout: 3-Pin Metripack: Pin A (5V DC Supply), Pin B (Signal 0.5-4.5V), Pin C (Low Reference Return)
